NEWS RELEASE

(November 3, 2023) – Biloxi Main Street along with the City of Biloxi recently cut the Ribbon for Phase 1 for the HowHop Project. HowHop is where Howard Ave. and Hopkins Blvd. intersect, hence the perfect name for this space (formally know as under the I110). This project was an outcome of a Mississippi Main Street Road Map session in Biloxi, in August of 2022, outlining worthy projects for Downtown Biloxi, within the Biloxi Main Street District. Kay Miller Biloxi Main Street Director requested a $50,000 grant from The Gulf Coast Community Foundation and The Knight Foundation for this project, and the City of Biloxi was able to match this grant with $50,000 additional dollars.

This will help to create a gathering spot for all ages, a center for creative art, a place for kids to play, a spot for adults to enjoy a craft beer and cocktails. In Biloxi, we know a few things about transforming place, and here, where Howard and Hopkins intersect, a world-class connection will happen. We will call it How Hop, where art and entertainment come to light!
Phase 1 has been completed and includes: 2 Pickleball Courts on the south side of Howard Ave., column art (created by local artist Julia Reyes), and tree lighting. We are currently working on funding to bring Phase 2 to life!
